There are numerous resources available to help your school or centre clearly illustrate the difference between bins. The key with this is to have an understanding of your waste system, whether it is council collected or private. Signage is most effective when there are images to help viewers quickly process the information. See below for a few resources and let us know of any others we can add to the list.
Signage
Check our Council Services page for information and resources specific to your area. A lot of councils provide stickers and pamphlets around what is collected in their bin services.
RecycleKiwi provides free resources to assist schools in setting up their recycling systems. These posters and stickers can be used to demonstrate clearly which items can be recycled, and which bin is correct for each type of recyclable material.
Para Kore provide printable resources in English and te reo Māori
Teacher Talk have downloadable signage resources for Early Childhood Education Centres.

Bins
Below is a list of places you can purchase colour coded bins for your school or centre:
The Paper 4 Trees programme (Pepa Mō Ngā Rākau) aims to provide, free of charge, one 30-litre grey bin for each classroom which generates paper and cardboard waste. The contents of the bin should be emptied into your school's main kerbside recycling bin or taken to your local recycling centre. Where possible, Paper 4 Trees rewards schools with locally grown trees or shrubs as an incentive for students to divert as much paper and cardboard from landfill as possible. Please note that the provision of bins and the availability of trees depends on current sponsorship and funding grants in your local area, and supplies cannot be guaranteed. Contact Paper 4 Trees for more information.
